Saturday Ride (The B Route) |
- Group meets a Palm Desert Civic Center Park on San Pablo Ave. just north of Fred Waring Dr. This is a flat route with the exception of a 2 mile climb in La Quinta Cove.
- From park, go north on San Pablo Dr.
- Left on Magnesia Falls Dr.
- Right on Monterey Ave. (NOTE: first part of ride is slower pace (15-18mph) for warm-up and socializing.
- Right on Frank Sinatra Dr. Frank Sinatra bends right and becomes Oasis Club Dr.
- Left at T-intersection on Hovley Lane East (aka 42nd Ave.)
- Right on Warner Trail, cross Fred Waring Dr.
- Left at T-intersection on Miles Ave.
- Right on Adams St. Cross Hwy 111
- Right at T-intersection on 48th Ave.
- Left at T-intersection on Washington Ave.
- Right on 50th Ave.
- Left at T-intersection on Eisenhower Dr.
- Right on Avenida Montezuma. Montezuma bends around to the left next to the mountains, makes a 90º left turn, then 90º right past cul-de-sac on right. Do not turn in there, but go to 2nd right to stay on Montezuma and begin hill climb. Riders attack this hill with re-group at bottom after stop. Some "A" riders don't stop at bottom, but continue at a higher pace.
- Montezuma bends left at top. With open area on your right, continue until the road turns left again and begins fast descent on Avenida Bermudas
- Options at bottom of descent: Fritz Burns Park on right with restrooms. OR, proceed straight past 52nd Ave. (at light) a few blocks to Village Service Station and Food Mart on left for fluid replacement and use of station restroom. (Most club members go to service station)
- After stop, return to light and proceed east on 52nd Ave.
- Right at traffic circle on Jefferson St. (NOTE: "B" group pace line riding with speeds of 19-23mph)
- Left on 54th Ave. (OPTION: for shorter ride, proceed straight into PGA West to end return. Then pick up route at # 25 below. This cuts off approx 9 miles)
- Right on Madison St.
- Left on 60th Ave.
- Proceed past Trilogy golf community. Just prior to Monroe St. where the center divider of 60th Ave. ends, do a 180º and return
- Right on Madison St.
- Left on 54th Ave.
- Right on Jefferson St. (PGA West shorter route, proceed straight north on Jefferson)
- Proceed straight past 52nd Ave. through traffic circle round-about (very Euro)
- Go past 50th Ave. NOTE: Just Java Coffee Shop on NE corner
- Left on 48th Ave.
- Right on Dune Palms Dr. or next right of Adams.
- Left on Hwy 111 and proceed all the way to Bagel Bistro. NOTE: Hwy 111 crosses San Pablo. Turn right to return to Palm Desert Civic Center Park
- OR, proceed on Hwy 111 past Monterey Ave.
- Cross Town Center Way and turn into driveway on right for Bagel Bistro and Starbucks.
To return to Palm Desert Civic Center Park after Bagel stop, take Town Center Way north to Fred Waring, then right to San Pablo and left to park.
